Hours: Tours and tastings by appointment

The Kumquatery, based on the outskirts of Renmark, welcomes tours and tastings by appointment to sample their vast range of local products.

Kumquats are a small citrus fruit, orange in color and oval in shape that can be eaten fresh off the tree with the skin on or they can be preserved in a variety of ways. The Kumquatery grows and processes fruit from 500 trees on their rural property, consisting of two varieties, each with their own distinctive flavour. Nagami kumquats are smaller and oval shaped with a more tangy flavour, while Marumi kumquats are more round in shape with a slightly sweeter rind.

Once picked they are processed into a range of tasty products which include – candied kumquats, kumquat krumble, naturally dehydrated kumquats, kumquats in syrup, syrup, jams, dark chocolates and choc dipped dehydrated. Fresh kumquats are also available during harvest.

Tours generally take one hour and will incorporate viewing the trees and plantings and finishing in the Kumquatery kitchen where you are able to taste all of the products available with purchases welcomed. Tours are available all year round and are especially interesting during the harvest period between July to October. Larger groups are welcome with bookings essential.

All of the products can be purchased securely online or at various retail outlets including at the Renmark Paringa Visitor Centre.
