Customs House Houseboats are the only houseboat company that departs within the secluded section of the Murray River, between Lock 6 in South Australia and Wentworth in New South Wales - a distance of 220 km by river!

Situated on the SA / VIC border, Customs House Houseboats operate out of the historic Old Customs House, the most accessible point on land to the state border and the site where the tolls / taxes were collected on cargo travelling between the states during the paddlesteamer era.
Customs House is a a popular departure point due to its more remote , outback river location though is still only a short 25 minute drive from Renmark. Their houseboat fleet caters for small groups (2-6 berth boats) up to large 10-12 berth vessels to suit families or groups. Many of their boats have roof top spas and are well appointed. Hirers can choose to head downstream, through the Chowilla Game Reserve or upstream where you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the Border Cliffs along the river.
Last minute needs can be purchased from the small general store (within the Customs House) including food items, beverages, ice and general basics for river traffic and day visitors. There is also public boat ramp for boaters who wish to explore the surrounding area and nearby Chowilla Game Reserve Border Cliffs Section.
