The David Ruston Statue is a fitting tribute to recognise the dedication and contribution he made to floriculture and the rose, both locally and worldwide.
Description
In 2008, a small group from Renmark formed and suggested a public artwork be commissioned to recognise the global significance of local resident, David Ruston's contribution to floriculture and the rose. The result was a permanent statue erected in Jarrett Memorial Gardens surrounded by his beloved roses.
The statue depicts David Ruston as a low relief bronze figure, engulfed in flowers and in his typical pose with secateurs upside down as he was remembered using them.
The intricacy and delicacy of the design in the panels reflect historical imagery and the complexity of the plant world.
