The Shi Shi Lion Statue was a friendship gift from the City of Shi Shi in China to the residents of Renmark Paringa.
Description
The stone lion was erected on the banks of the riverfront to honor of the relationship with Chinese sister city Shi Shi following their delegation to the Renmark Paringa district.
The statue was unveiled on 17 October 2000, by then Secretary General of the Communist Party of Fujian Province( China) Mr Wu Yan Nan, the Premier of South Australia Hon. John Olsen and His Worship the Mayor Rod Thomas.
It was the first friendship exchange delegation between Renmark Paringa District and the City of Shi Shi, with numerous delegations occurring since this time to strengthen export relationships.
